Himax Application / Use Case – Occupancy Detection
Overview
The occupancy sensor is mainly used for presence detection, and then enables the automatic control over energy-consuming devices. The sensor is capable of identifying when a particular space within a building is occupied, and adjusts the lighting, heating and cooling, and other appliances accordingly.
PIR-based occupancy sensors react to the movement of heat emitted by people in motion within a coverage area that requires a line of sight. When PIR sensor determines the occupancy by any heat source on the move, WE1 Plus vision AI distinguishes human/non-human and keep the lights on even no movement is detected.
WE1 Plus vision AI recognizes the people counts and where people gather, and automatically adjust the room temperature and fan direction.
In the smart building, WE1 Plus vision AI can be used to automatically control the lighting of each zone by presence detection, realizing intelligent and humanized energy saving.
